The Importance of Washing Hair in Hair Transplantation

For the first 48 hours, you have no choice but to keep your scalp completely dry. On the third day, you must wash your scalp. Washing your scalp on the third day is as important as keeping your scalp dry during the first two days. When you wash your scalp, you help the skin heal better and rid it of the scabs that form on the skin when you have open wounds, which helps the skin heal.

If you do not wash your scalp in the first few days, the risk of infection increases and scabs, blood and crusts form on the scalp. Failure to wash the scalp at the designated time will result in infection, pimples and irritation.

Things to Consider While Washing Hair After Hair Transplantation

When washing your hair or scalp after hair treatments, you need to keep some points in mind. Remember that your scalp is sensitive after the procedure and needs to be washed gently. When washing, keep the following points in mind:

Let’s start with the most important point to consider before washing your hair, which is the choice of shampoo. The shampoo that must be used after the procedure should contain ingredients such as copper, zinc, keratin amino acids and ketoconazole. The special shampoo must be used for 6 months after the procedure before switching back to the normal shampoos.

After the procedure, we will give you the shampoo to use and explain exactly how to use it. Normal shampoos can be very harmful to your scalp for the first 6 months due to the chemicals in many shampoos.

Wash your scalp with lukewarm water after hair transplantation and avoid extremely hot or extremely cold water. Cold or hot water can cause irritation and itching, which isn't the case with lukewarm water. Pay attention to the water pressure and keep it at the lowest to avoid undesirable consequences.

Don’t apply the shampoo directly to the scalp, but lather a small amount of the special shampoo between your hands and slowly and gently sweep it over the scalp. After washing, let the area dry on its own, as even dabbing could damage the hair follicles in the transplanted area.

How should hair be washed after hair transplantation?

As mentioned above, the scalp must be carefully cleaned after hair transplantation to ensure that the hair follicles are not damaged. The steps of hair washing after hair transplant procedure are:

1- Apply the recommended hair product to your scalp by lightly touching your skin with your fingertips. Gently pat the product into your skin without rubbing the hair roots. The product must remain on the scalp for 20 minutes before rinsing.

2- Wash the scalp with lukewarm water, using a cup or your hand to rinse off the product without exposing the scalp to the water pressure of the shower head.

3- Be sure to avoid hair dryers or towels,

At what intervals should the hair be washed after hair transplantation?

In the first stage of recovery, make sure that when you wash your hair, you use a cup to pour the water on your head. However, when you start washing your hair 48 hours after the procedure, you will need to wash your hair daily for about 15 days to make sure your scalp is clean and ready to heal. After these 15 days, you can return to your normal hair washing routine.
